WatchGuard: Why Should You Go Rugged?

WatchGuard: Why Should You Go Rugged?

THE OVERVIEW

Even brief interruptions in protection can leave organisations vulnerable to cyber-attacks. Wired and wireless security is crucial. There is a major need for technology that is engineered to extend security and connectivity even in harsh environments. Although more and more organisations are moving away from climate-controlled dust-free environments they cannot afford to see a reduction in performance or life of the product. WatchGuard’s firewall and outdoor access point models are ideal for use in warehouses, manufacturing, agricultural environments, hot kitchens, and many other places.

WHY USE RUGGEDISED SOLUTIONS FROM WATCHGUARD?

Traditionally firewalls are designed to be used in office environments, or rack-mounted in a climate-controlled server room, where issues with temperature, dust and moisture are minor. Using a WatchGuard ruggedised firewall allows you to achieve the best-in-class performance and security you expect even in harsh environments.

WatchGuard’s T35-R ruggedised firebox is fully dust and splash-proof and capable of operating in extreme temperatures (-40⁰ to +60⁰ C). The T35-R offers reliable security and connectivity even in the harshest of conditions found in non-traditional network environments. There is no need to build custom enclosures due to the rugged frame.

WatchGuard-Rugged

Site-to-site VPN connectivity is simple, reliable, and manageable, which enables admins to confidently enable advanced security protections against malware, network intrusions, viruses, worms, and ransomware. Using the T35-R allows you to extend the security protections you would expect in an office, to remote locations without having to worry about device failure and downtime because of the extreme conditions.

CLOUD MANAGED ACCESS POINTS

More than ever people expect to have Wi-Fi access no matter where they are. WatchGuard’s Wi-Fi Cloud solutions deliver comprehensive features including verified extensive security, marketing tools, location-based analytics and intelligent network visibility and troubleshooting. WatchGuard’s AP327X can solve your outdoor Wi-Fi challenges with flexile antenna choices to direct signal to desired areas and reduce interference from trees. With its IP67-rating it can withstand the most extreme conditions – rain, snow, dust, you name it.

WatchGuard’s Cloud-managed access points are the only Miercom verified products on the market to defend against all six known Wi-Fi threat categories and can run alongside an existing Wi-Fi infrastructure. Using the AP327X you can extend the same Wi-Fi protection outside of the building, delivering robust connectivity with the peace of mind that there is protection from hackers automatically.

SO WHY IS THE IP RATING IMPORTANT?

IP or “Ingress Protection” ratings are used to define levels of sealing effectiveness of electrical enclosures against intrusions from foreign bodies such as dirt, dust, and moisture. The letters IP are then followed by digits that indicate different factors.

IP ENCLOSURE

IP64

IP65

IP66

IP67

IP68

DEFINITION

IP rated as dustproof and protected against water splashes from all directions

IP rated as dustproof and protected against water projected from a nozzle

IP rated as dustproof and protected against powerful jets of water

IP rated as dustproof and protected against immersion in water for 30 minutes at depths 150mm – 1000mm

IP rated as dustproof and protected against complete, continuous submersion in water

First Digit: Solid Protection

This first digit after the IP indicates the level of protection the enclosure provides against access to hazardous parts and the likelihood of access to foreign objects.

Second Digit: Liquid Protection

The second digit after the IP indicates the protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against liquid entering.
