SmartZone Switch Management Just Got Better!

REMOTE CLI ACCESS…FROM ANYWHERE!

In the latest SmartZone firmware (5.2.1) you have the power to access the switch CLI via the SmartZone remotely from anywhere in the world.

This exciting new feature means that there is no longer a need to rely on a VPN or get remote access to make a change that isn’t an option in the GUI, you can now directly login to the CLI just as you would normally without a fuss.

Now I know what you’re thinking… Telnet? That’s not secure? But don’t worry, the Telnet session is secure as it runs over an encrypted SSH tunnel and only the SmartZone can establish that Telnet session.

PROTECTED PORTS

Protected Ports is a great feature to have, especially if you do not have an onboarding solution for wired guests.

Found under the port settings of the SmartZone, this new feature allows multiple clients to share the same VLAN, whilst providing layer 2 isolation which ensures clients can only talk to the uplink port.

This means clients can’t communicate with each other despite being on the same layer 2 VLAN.

FIRMWARE UPGRADE – MAKES SWITCHES EASIER TO MANAGE

No longer do you have to upgrade a switch one by one. You now have the ability to upgrade all switches within a group at once!

If that’s not good enough, you can set a minimum firmware release for that group, so you can rest assured all switches are running the same version as they onboard. Meaning that if a switch group is running on the latest firmware, and a switch running on an older version is added to the group, the newly added switch will be upgraded to the newest firmware in that switch group.
